What are nail tip extensions?

Glue-on tips

What are sculpted gel extensions?

Are gel extensions or tips more expensive?

Tip extensions or natural nails: which is better for you?
If your natural nails are already long, strong and even, you do not need extensions. A BIAB overlay on natural nails or a gel manicure is enough, and it is gentler on your nails. Tip extensions make sense when:

- You want long nails right away, without waiting for them to grow

What is a fill for nail extensions?
A fill adds gel to the gap that appears at the base of the nail as your natural nail grows out. Your technician thins down the old product, fills the gap with fresh gel, then applies a new color. You get a fresh set without removing everything and starting over.
Which extensions can be filled?
Sculpted gel fills
Sculpted gel extensions can be filled, usually every 2 – 3 weeks, once the regrowth at the base becomes visible.
Gel tip fills
Gel tips can be filled if they are still firmly attached to your natural nails. Your technician checks each nail before filling.
When should you remove gel tips instead of filling them?
If the tips are lifting, there is a gap underneath, or your natural nail feels sore or weak, it is better to remove them and redo the set. Filling over lifted tips can trap moisture and weaken the natural nail.
Glue-on tips
Glue-on tips are usually better removed and redone than filled, because the glue weakens over time.

How to keep your natural nails healthy
